Recovery is going to take time and we are here to provide all the support we can to help people.

Hawaiʻi island got hit the hardest and its people are dealing with severe impacts to their daily lives.

The safety of our people remains our highest priority as we’re responding to these storm impacts.

We have not had a hurricane make landfall in quite some time. So none of us really have experienced this really in, you know, the last couple of decades.

Please be safe. You definitely want to be home, do not be out on the roads.

We're hoping that it's going to be sufficiently far south that we just get the periphery of the storm, but, no promises, we've seen storms turn.

All state agencies and officers to cooperate and extend their services, materials, and facilities as may be required to assist in emergency response efforts.

I encourage every military branch to review its holdings in Hawaiʻi and identify other properties that are no longer essential to its mission that can be returned.

This commitment represents real progress, but it is not the finish line.

This is a meaningful step for Hawaiʻi and reflects what we have heard from communities across the state: When federal lands are no longer needed, they should be returned.

I urge everyone to secure their homes, gather essential supplies, review their family emergency plans and follow updates from trusted official sources.

Tropical Storm Lala poses a serious threat to our state, particularly Hawaiʻi Island — and we are taking action now to ensure resources are available where they are needed.

No payment can replace a loved one or erase what survivors endured.
