In some cases, in small and rural practices, as we have discussed, it will drive physicians out of business. So access is destroyed for those patients in those areas.

It is wasting money. It is wasting time. It is wasting resources. And, sadly, it is wasting the expertise of physicians, leading to further disgust on the part of physicians, many leaving practice.

Many of us here and many across the land sincerely believe that the principles that you outlined that all of us hold dear, accessibility, and affordability, and quality are all being harmed by the current path that we are on.

The current program is critical, but unsustainable.

What we are doing is taking more money out of the pockets of American people to do not what they want but what the government is forcing them to do.

I would ask the American people to ask themselves, for whom? For whom is the cost less? And the answer to that question is the government.

What we are trying to get to here is how to address the law and make the policy at the Federal level consistent with patient-centered health care.

This is unconscionable. This is what the American people are concerned about.

Let me suggest to you that an individual making $50,000 a year, a family making $50,000 a year who has a $6,000 to $8,000 deductible, that is not a person who can afford a $6,000 to $8,000 deductible.

When we see activities and rulings and decisions by the NLRB that actually harm job creation and decrease economic vitality in this country, then it is incumbent upon us to have hearings.
