I would suggest to you that the quality of care is harmed and threatened by this law because it removes the ability of patients and families and doctors to make medical decisions.
Does the Administration support requiring physicians to participate in the program as a component of being able to get licensed in the State?
There are a lot of physicians that I--one of my former colleagues that I talk to, and they say they are not going to be able to continue in the Medicare Program anymore because of reimbursement rates.
The issue here isn't between Democrats and Republicans, isn't whether or not Americans have access to the highest quality of care.
I appreciate that, because we are going to be able to demonstrate for you how this bill--this bill--provides for rationing of care in this Nation.
The fact of the matter is, there are millions of Americans who have health care coverage, have had health care coverage, and that coverage is going away because of this law.
Republicans in the House of Representatives have rejected this approach and embraced a much different path.
It is obviously to have a highly-qualified teacher in every subject in every classroom.
I think that is an important point that this is a two-way street and both ends can end up sort of losing out on that decision.
