I am very happy to rise in support of the amendment of the gentlewoman from Washington. A little disappointed my own great amendments were not made in order but very happy to support hers. As a physician, having practiced 30 years of clinical medicine, there is no question that the cost of chronic disease management is the most costly, and particularly under Medicaid. I think the gentlewoman has the exact right idea, to be able to monitor this information on a real- time basis so that physicians know exactly what they are spending and what is cost effective. I was very happy as a member of the Rules Committee to recommend her amendment be made in order. Thank goodness it was, and I proudly stand here today to recommend this amendment to all of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle. I commend her for the good job she has done. Miss McMORRIS. Mr. Chairman, I yield to the great chairman of the subcommittee who, without her support, we would not be having this amendment before us today.
