We’re not using the hand count as the primary method of determining election results.

This is a good bill that prepares Georgia for future elections, that secures the elections it will have in 2026 in an orderly fashion and that allows us to do things appropriately.

We feel that this gets us into a position to clarify and provide certainty to our election officials and to our electorate.

This is a proposal that resolves some concerns among our election community and allows a road map moving forward beyond 2026.

The secretary of state in 2027 will be a partner in that, but they will not be the sole deciding factor.
