This amendment to a good bill is to strengthen it so that the voters have confidence in election security.

The secretary of state in 2027 will be a partner in that, but they will not be the sole deciding factor.

We feel that this gets us into a position to clarify and provide certainty to our election officials and to our electorate.

“100% [security] is a goal,” he said. “We have to get as close to that as we can, and then we have to build other processes and mitigation opportunities around it to ensure that we address any potential challenges that we find.”
