Republicans in the Georgia legislature have granted themselves the ability to remove the election boards in individual counties on their own say so.
According to them, if you support voter I.D. for absentee ballots, you`re a racist. According to them, if you believe in protecting the security and sanctity of the ballot box, you`re a -- quote - - 'Jim Crow in a suit and tie.'
Well, it wasn't a voting rights bill. It was an election security bill that actually increases early voting opportunities on the weekend here in Georgia, and also requires a photo ID for absentee by mail just like when you vote in-person and it continues to, I think, will allow Georgia to have secure, accessible, and fair elections in Georgia.
The Senate Bill 202, Georgia will take another step toward ensuring our elections are secure, accessible, and fair. The facts are that this new law will expand voting access in the Peach State.
Tonight, the Republican governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, has signed into law a sweeping, staggering bill that undoes much of what constitute free and fair elections in the state of Georgia.
Significant reforms to our state elections were needed. There`s no doubt there were many alarming issues with how the election was handled. And those problems understandably led to the crisis of confidence in the ballot box here in Georgia.

All of these things, they're a distraction. I mean, I've supported the president. I've said that many times there is a constitutional and legal process that is playing out, and I'm very comfortable letting that process play out. But that horse has left the barn in Georgia and it's headed to D.C. right now.
It's gotten ridiculous from death threats to claims of bribes from China to social media posts that my children are getting.
