This situation is not supporting the services that our veterans need in my district, and it's not showing good stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

And so you have an agency here that's operating under a different standard than they impose on the American taxpayer, and that's unacceptable.

I'm concerned about this happening all over the country. Because there's a lot of good people who are potentially going to be negatively affected if we continue down this road.

I think we need to do this as quickly as possible. I think time is wasting, and I think our veterans are being left to suffer.

I'm concerned also about the taxpayer penalties that the taxpayer is now going to have to pay.

It's frustrating that we're here where these delays are really a matter of course. And that's just unacceptable.

This is a really, really frustrating hearing and, obviously, a colossal failure.

It is really just cronyism, where you have a corrupt regime and there is a profit arrangement with a private entity.

We are ignoring this basic building block of property rights.

if DHS is then going to release people who have been proven to be a danger to society into the public, well, then that leaves more Americans to be victimized by, in some cases, very violent crimes.

That's a lot of families who have lost loved ones, and they can look at ICE and say: Look. Had you just done your job better, maybe my family member would be here today.

So when that is not followed, what happens? Who is held accountable? Does anyone lose their job?

A criminal conviction for, say, aggravated assault, that's not looking into the future, that's looking into the past.
