DeSantis previously served as a U.S. Representative for Florida's 6th congressional district from 2013 to 2018. His tenure as governor has been marked by a focus on conservative policies, including education reform, environmental issues, and responses to the COVID-19 pandemic. DeSantis has gained national attention for his stances on various issues, including his support for the Trump Presidential Library in Miami and his administration's initiatives on wildlife management.
We stepped up because there was a gap, but my hope is that they’ll be able to handle that.
Alligator Alcatraz has fulfilled this mission. Detainees who are still awaiting deportation have been transferred to other federal facilities, and demobilization efforts are underway.
Florida led the way in increasing much-needed detention capacity and working with our federal partners to streamline deportations, removing thousands of the most dangerous criminal aliens from our country.
We’ve saved taxpayers from medical care and schooling [of undocumented immigrants] and all these different things.
I’d rather do what’s right, and I’d rather protect the people that I was elected to serve.
There should be a debate. They said that there was going to be a debate.
It’s counterproductive when you try to engineer an outcome because you need a coalition of voters to do well.
