But you wouldn't say that over the last couple of decades, would you? Would not the fact of sea level rise be some part of the calculation of what the insurance premium was going to be?

Over the last 50 years--we will hear testimony--sea level rise has been in Florida any place from five to eight inches. It is real. And yet some of our colleagues in the Senate deny it.

My take-home impression--when I say ``home,'' I mean here, Earth--is that we inhabit a very beautiful but delicate planet.

We want to make sure that our resources... is focused on cutting-edge science and the technology that will develop from it.

There can be no denying that climate is changing and that we are seeing the effects right now.
