I have been working with Mr. Duffy on this tick-size issue, so I have been listening very carefully to the discussion over the last three questioners.

Our objective is pretty simple, Mr. Duffy laid it out, is to drive more liquidity, more activity to the smaller cap companies.

It is absolutely critically important that we get it right, that we are careful. Otherwise, as you said, we could ruin the financial system.

If the bill is passed as it is and mortgage rates rise as is? It would hurt home sales, it would hurt housing construction, it would lower house prices.

We have to get it right not only because we could screw up the housing finance system, but we could screw up the financial system as well.

This was the most productive work, I think, that we did in the last Congress, certainly in this committee.
