Linda Thomas-Greenfield is an American diplomat currently serving as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, a position she has held since February 2021. Israel has no closer friend than the United States, and I will reflect that in my actions at the United Nations.
On this day, I'm thinking about the American people, my fellow career diplomats and public servants around the world. I want to say to you America is back. Multilateralism is back. Diplomacy is back.
I think in the long run we may have to take some actions against the government and other parties who are committing human rights violations.
I think they would respond to a request to come to the United States by President Trump.
When I meet with African leaders and they tell me they do not want to come because they cannot get a meeting with the president, I tell them they are missing out on the opportunity to meet with you.
It is critical that the process for organizing elections on December 23, 2018, be conducted in a credible, transparent manner.
