Richard Nixon: “America is the greatest country in the world and the way you can keep it great is by voting your conscience.”

I have never been a quitter. To leave office before my term is completed is abhorrent to every instinct in my body. But as president, I must put the interests of America first. Therefore, I shall resign the presidency effective at noon…

This country needs good farmers, good businessmen, good plumbers, good carpenters.

This, more than anything, is what I hope will be my legacy to you, to our country, as I leave the Presidency.

My mother was a saint.
