In March 2018, the OIG conducted an inspection at the request of Congressmen Pete Aguilar and Mark Takano related to a series of concerns regarding the environment of care.

Those irregularities are looking a lot like systemic voter suppression efforts.

Why undo that mandate that the voters have given, which they did on Friday?

I, too, like my colleagues, applaud the residents of Florida for voting overwhelmingly in favor of restoring voting rights to individuals.

So when the department comes to us and asks for authority, and there are cases like this, where individuals who don't have a criminal record are detained it--it frustrates us.

I hope you feel from us you are hearing that you don't just have the authority to come talk with us if you need additional budget dollars to carry out these inspections, but we hope you feel the obligation to do that as well.

You know, what we saw--and I appreciate the gentleman from North Carolina bringing this to the forefront. He has seen in his State, let's just call it what it is, it was election fraud, and it was meant to skew the outcome of an election.

What matters is, is every vote counted. That is what this Committee has the obligation to discuss.

If we are serious about giving people an opportunity to vote, that everybody has an opportunity to vote, we have got to be more flexible.

I think H.R. 1 gives just the framework for State elections officials and clerks to work under.

The evidence of an accurate count means you count everybody.
