I’m so glad this bill delivers on that promise with advance funding for the Toxic Exposure Fund, and I am so proud of that bipartisan work as it continues.

My amendment does one simple thing. It prohibits the arbitrary use of the Judgment Fund to pay elected officials of the United States unless there is a binding order from a court.

I refuse to accept that the path to those goals runs through an open-ended, unauthorized regional war that has already cost American lives and that this Administration cannot coherently explain.

I represent Marines and Sailors on Camp Pendleton—some of the most capable, disciplined, and battle-ready men and women this nation has ever produced.

So, when this Congress funds the military and our veterans, I take that responsibility seriously.

Coastal communities throughout our district do not want this. Cities up and down the coast have stood together on a bipartisan basis to oppose offshore drilling because protecting our coastline is common sense.

I’m proud to be a Member of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittee, and pleased that we were collectively able to put our service members and our veterans over politics.

I am encouraged that even in this moment when we still come together across the aisle we can do big things to serve our military and our veterans.
