Current law requires that online students only receive half of the national average of living stipend payments, but my bill does need work, and I am going to talk about that.

I want to express my support for two other draft bills on the agenda today.

I understand the Chairman's desire to improve oversight over all schools, and I appreciate that very much, and I share that desire.

While I am supportive of most of the bills on today's agenda, I am concerned that several of the draft education bills may have unintended consequences.

This is a big concern in the area that I represent in San Diego, as I know it is throughout the country.

I am proud to say that the vast majority of these proposals are bipartisan in nature, something I consider a hallmark of this Committee.

We owe our veterans no less. All due respect to those in the industry, you know we can do better than what we are doing today for our veterans.

I am not saying all for-profit universities are bad, far from it, there are plenty of people doing very good things, but to deny that this is an issue, one that we must work together in a bipartisan manner to address, completely dismisses…

There are far too many of our veterans that we are poaching to take advantage of them in order to get the other 90 percent.

We have got to address this issue and we have got to come to some common ground.

We want to avoid unintended consequences.

I believe my approach gets us to the same place the Chairman wants to go, but also keeps partisan ideas out of the GI Bill.

I commend all of you, all four of you. And that includes anybody trying to do zero-emission.

Well, I always say that people say, well, what is the root, what is the key to ending homelessness, is it more homes? And I said, no, it is less homeless veterans.

For far too long; Congress and the Department of Veterans Affairs have overlooked the unique barriers that women veterans face after leaving military service.

When is the VA going to listen to the 92 percent of veterans across all political stripes and ideologies that want to see this done?

The research should be designed and directed by scientists and not policymakers.

I think we can all agree that we need more research, serious scientific research into this topic.

One way I personally support this is by looking into rescheduling cannabis into a Schedule 2 substance.

It is our job as policymakers to protect both the physicians and the veterans before we go off and encourage them to prescribe or recommend any illegal substance as a treatment for any of the myriad of conditions that have been indicated…
