I would just encourage a more informal mentorship program or network of mentors and mentees.
Along with the RISE Act, we have the Supporting Early Career Researchers Act--a bipartisan bill led by Chairwoman Johnson and Congressman Mike Garcia.
As we fight to keep America safe, healthy, and economically stable during this pandemic, there is one certainty: our success depends on science.
That's why I am a proud cosponsor of the Research Investment to Secure the Economy (RISE) Act.
What is more alarming to me--and I think this is an echo of what my colleague from Pennsylvania, Representative Joyce, was getting at--is that especially here in the State of California, the update and frequency of updates to the registration rolls is anemic.
That makes no sense. There is no math that allows that. There is no law that tolerates that.
Just prior to my election but unfortunately after the 2018 election, the State of California removed about 1.5 to 1.8 million dead voters or voters who were removed--or moved from California to other States.
The facts are the Postal Service--the Post Office is more than capable of delivering ballots to voters.
This last piece of legislation, this $25 billion piece of legislation, wasn't the right answer to help our letter carriers.
I fully support the letter carriers in our country. The United States Postal Service does a tremendous service for our Nation.
