I am here to advocate for the Work for Warriors program.

I am disappointed to hear that.

My proposed language would create a national Work for Warriors pilot program that mirrors these State direct-to-employment programs.

Last year Representative Rosa DeLauro and I requested a GAO report investigating how institutions use consultants to manage the Cohort Default Rate, or CDR.

This sounds incredibly, a terrible system that really takes advantage of students to profit for the sake of profit.

I believe that technology assessment and understanding scientific issues requires--it is its own discipline.

This is an important strategic investment in our institution's capacity to create technology policy that protects our constituents while encouraging innovation.

A restored OTA would complement GAO, as well as CRS, by combining deep technical expertise and robust forward-looking reports.

Congress needs access to unbiased technological expertise to weigh the pros and cons of policy questions surrounding cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and so many other matters.

In order to do this, we need to strengthen our capacity to understand emerging technology and its social and policy implications.

Congress has an important role to play in making sure that the benefits of advances in science and technology are distributed equally throughout our society.

The foundation for good policy is accurate and objective analysis.

I am pleased that the work that was begun last year will continue and I am honored to be a part of the effort.

California is currently a leader in Registered Apprenticeship programs with close to 3,000 active programs to date.

So really you can foresee with this sort of seed capital the apprenticeship becoming self-sustaining in the way that they are in the building trades?

Registered Apprenticeships are an important part of the work force training and they are valuable for the workers and the employers, which is evident from the growing number of apprentices participating.

I do appreciate that you are holding hearings on this important topic.

I see ISAs as another way to push the private market onto students, which has never resulted in positive outcomes.
