Mr. Speaker, I come to the House this evening to honor the story behind the creation of National Women's History Month. In doing so, I salute the National Women's History Project from the 6th Congressional District of California, the district that I represent. This year, our Nation celebrates the 150th anniversary of the women's rights movement. In my home district, this is of particular interest and a particularly special occasion because Sonoma County is the birthplace of the National Women's History Project, the organization responsible for the establishment of Women's History Month. The National Women's History Project of Sonoma County is a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1980. The history project is committed to providing education and resources to recognize and celebrate women's diverse lives and historic contributions to our society.
