I understand that the $6 billion in stimulus money may not have been prioritized correctly.

I don't believe the $3 billion is a real number.

To me, that is not aggressively disposing of a property.

I take great offense when somebody sits here in front of this committee and says things are going great, because they are not.

The question that should really be asked is couldn't we do without GSA altogether?

GSA is not learning from past lessons, and that is what should have every taxpayer concerned.

I think the answer is we hold them accountable, from the top down, which is why I am glad that Mr. Diaz-Balart is here.

This is a perfect example of how things should not be done.

I want to thank our witnesses and, in particular, Representative Diaz-Balart, former Republican ranking member of this subcommittee and a leader on these issues.

It is certainly my hope that this part of the process has moved along just as quickly so that West Virginians can soon receive the full measure of help they so badly need to recover from this devastating storm.

Why encourage mitigation in building codes? As a Member from California, I know firsthand the difference building codes can have in saving lives and reducing costs.
