The whole idea of this bill is so that the EPA can take a look at it and say, OK, maybe we need to find a less costly way of doing this if it is a good thing to do.

The discussion draft is hopelessly flawed. It gives the Department of Energy (DOE) a veto over EPA regulations.
Today, the subcommittee examines the discussion draft that would govern the disposal of coal ash, the toxic-laden residual waste from burning coal.
I am glad to see that a key element of MedPAC's proposal is that it is 'beneficiary liability neutral'.
I continue to oppose such an approach and believe that there is simply not the support for this proposal to be become law.
For more than four decades, Medicare has been a critical program for ensuring the health and the financial well being for senior and disabled people.

It is ironic that the other subcommittee... is trying to pass a bill to approve the tar sands pipeline from Canada.
The State Department draft environmental analysis acknowledges that the Keystone XL pipeline could affect the climate.
When one says that Canadians support developing the oil sands, yes, in Alberta they support that... but there many regions of the country where they don't support that.
The Affordable Care Act does more to protect America's sick and chronically ill than any piece of legislation in the last 50 years.
Just this April, there was an actual attack on our electricity infrastructure.
And my colleagues, a budget shows our priorities for financial expenditures but our moral priorities as well. There are many reasons to oppose the Ryan budget, but what it does to Medicare and Medicaid are on the top of my list. They would…
According to the American Society of Civil Engineers, 12 percent of the bridges in my home State of California are considered structurally deficient.
