I am so scared that if you take PAIMI away, and that is what would happen, there wouldn't be any protection for us if we were being abused, neglected or exploited.

Proponents of the PAIMI proposals in H.R. 3717 claim these provisions will return the program to its roots but it seems to me that an 85 percent reduction in federal funding would do much more than that.

This has always been a State responsibility. This is a one-size-fits-all response.

I must express deep concern about other provisions in this bill. I think the bill broadly redefines the privacy rights of individuals with a diagnosed mental illness.

Now, Mr. Chairman, it is time to choose our path. We could accept all of these excuses for inaction and do nothing. The result would be a climate catastrophe. Or we could choose to act now to address climate change.

The loudest voices against taking action have offered no alternative plan to protect our children and grandchildren from the ravages of climate change.

We have a choice to make. We can seize the moment by taking action to avoid the worst impacts of climate change and realize the benefits of transitioning to a clean energy economy, or we can decide, Mr. Chairman, not to act.

The world's leading scientists examined the peer-reviewed science and confirmed that climate change is already happening on all continents and across the oceans and will get much worse if we do not act.

Families across America are counting on you to do what is right and to stand up to special interests.
