Mr. Speaker, I was absent during rollcall votes No. 302 and No. 303 due to my spouse's health situation in California. Had I been present, I would have voted ``nay'' on the Motion on Ordering the Previous Question on the Rule providing for consideration of both H.R. 2581 and S. 1094. I would have also voted ``nay'' on H. Res. 378-- Rule providing for consideration of both H.R. 2581--Verify First Act and S. 1094--Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act of 2017.
