I think that the establishment of a minimum wage really is a violation of the separation of government and business. I do not think that the Federal Government should be involved in the establishment of a minimum wage, No. 1. No. 2, this issue was raised, and the comment about the President illustrates this point as a diversionary tactic, to divert the Nation's attention away from the real business at hand in Washington. That is balancing the Federal budget, getting our Federal act in order, learning how we can privatize certain things that government does, learning how we can localize. This is a perfect example of things that probably should not be discussed on this floor of this House, is better left at the State level or even the local level for the establishment of minimum wages in States.
