Gavin Christopher Newsom is an American politician and businessman currently serving as the 40th governor of California, a position he has held since January 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, Newsom previously served as the mayor of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011 and as the lieutenant governor of California from 2011 to 2019. His tenure as governor has been marked by significant policy initiatives, including efforts to address climate change, housing affordability, and healthcare reform.
California could not stand by and watch Republicans bake in a sizable advantage through redistricting ahead of midterm elections.
I call on other states to follow California’s lead on redistricting before the midterm elections.

I was humiliated watching the president of the United States in front of Xi. I mean, he was negotiating away this country in the first five minutes of the photo op. He came back with nothing. He got played by President Xi.
He doesn’t even know. He said the Pentagon should do it. Wake up, Mr. President. I know he may have jet lag. It’s the Department of Energy. He doesn’t even know which agency is responsible for that.
Look, this is weakness masquerading in strength. This is classic Trump and Trumpism. This guy is historically weak, and these are acts of a weak person that is trying to appear strong.
The narrative is going to shift: Democrats are finally now no longer on their back heels, they’re on their toes.
They’re doing it as part of an intimidation strategy. They’re trying to suppress the vote.
I think the biggest challenge for anyone who runs for any office is people see right through you.
