There have been numerous reports of senior executives at the GSEs meeting with Federal policymakers to advocate for being taken out of conservatorship.

I plan to introduce legislation with two objectives: The first, to explicitly prohibit Fannie and Freddie from engaging in lobbying activities while in conservatorship.

These efforts build on previous U.S. sanctions as well as those by Canada, the European Union, and Switzerland.

I hope this Administration and this Congress have learned something from this failed duopoly and do the hard work necessary to reform our housing finance system.
