I fully support many of the reforms in H.R. 522 but must, once again, raise some concern with one particular section that would not only cause harm but could ensure that the other reforms are once again delayed by the other body or by the administration. That issue is the increase in coverage amounts. This simple amendment returns the base coverage level for insurance on deposits to the current $100,000 level. It removes provisions increasing coverage to $130,000, as well as provisions to automatically increase coverage through inflation adjustments.
