today, the price of gas is $5 a gallon, and we would like to see the plan today, Madam Speaker. I hope that this rule will unveil this plan, but unfortunately, the legislation that's before us today is a scam. It's a complete and total scam. The longer that we continue to blame the White House, the longer that we continue to blame the oil companies, the longer that we continue to blame everyone else but ourselves--we ourselves are to blame; we should look in the mirror. This Congress should take dramatic steps to open up supply that would bridge ourselves to the next generation of energy, Madam Speaker. That's what we should be doing here today. The American people aren't going to buy these arguments, but they are going to continue to be buying $5 gas until we decide, as a Congress, to do something about it.
