America provides advice to other countries on the rule of law and good government. We are now in a situation where many of us are embarrassed to be part of the Federal Government and its Congress.

Brad Sherman is an American politician serving as a member of the United States House of Representatives from California's 30th congressional district since 1997. A member of the Democratic Party, Sherman has focused on various issues including financial regulation, foreign policy, and technology. He has been an advocate for consumer protection and has worked on legislation related to economic stability and national security. Throughout his tenure, he has participated in numerous congressional committees and has been involved in significant legislative efforts.
There are three regrettable things with regard to Libya. First and most regrettable, we lost Ambassador Stevens and three others.
Ambassador Stevens was equipped to do so; he was a hero, he knew the risk that he was taking.
I hope very much, Mr. Chairman, that we are marking up a resolution in this committee and considering in regular order.
The President drew a red line. Presidents often draw red lines in order to deter action.
I fear for the American people that they have to live with the trade decisions made by this Government.
The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result.
We are going to have a dramatic effect on that, and I would like another month to figure out whether this bill is going to have an acceptable effect.
If we had a functioning democracy and government here in the United States, the administration would be conferring with Congress as to what would be the best policy.
