You have amazing power in your jobs. You have amazing power, and we let all of this bureaucracy make the decisions that you are allowed to make.
We need to make sure that we are looking at each and every one, we need to scrutinize every single medical professional we can.
We have got to make sure that we are not, just because we don't have a filled billet with a behavioral health specialist, that we don't do away with that slot.
I just want to make sure, I get the unfilled billets, but from a lot of years of experience, the unfilled billets are generally the low-density, hard-to-get billets.
I am extremely concerned about the lengthy delays for routine behavioral health appointments and the shortage of mental health professionals.
I want to talk--we talked about strangulation. And when I was a district attorney [DA] in Mississippi, I was very helpful in trying to get the law changed so that it became a felony in Mississippi...

I just ask that equal time be represented in this hearing and all other hearings.
I have a continued focus on our Gold Star families and how we best serve those survivors of our Gold Star--of our warriors who die in combat.
We have got to be careful with policies that segregate, and we have got to integrate.
But we have a policy--it is either DOD or Department of the Army--which requires that she be--have another female officer with her in order to serve, okay?
We are talking about differences between equity and law and equity--or cases of equity and cases of law, dicta versus real law.
As a former commander and district attorney, I know that sexual assault is a scourge on both the military and society as a whole.
I am committed to working to find meaningful, effective solutions to this problem.
