It has been 18 years since this committee last had a hearing on Tribal transportation needs. It is long overdue.

I think that this hearing is very appropriate, and as a Member of Congress, getting educated about those working conditions is very important to me.

Unfortunately, temperatures are rising, and it makes working conditions very, very difficult.

These accidents, these tragic accidents, have shaken our confidence in the FAA.

I urge this committee to act with the urgency that the crisis demands before it is too late.

It is time for the Federal Government to step up and take bold action to address it as well.
