I think every parent, every pediatrician in America would agree that we should just ban lead in all children's toys.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission is not equipped to handle the challenges that it faces today in the American marketplace.

Our bill would move this agency from the 401 employees that it has today, up to 500 employees by 2013.

I applaud Chairman Pryor's efforts to provide the Consumer Product Safety Commission with the tools it needs to ensure that it can properly protect consumers.

Senator Bill Nelson and Senator Durbin have been working very hard on that language and trying to make sure that that makes sense.

I need to publicly thank Senator Durbin for his efforts earlier this year... to get an additional $8 million for the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

It is no secret that I believe we can and should be doing more to protect parents and children from dangerous products.

It is time to change our current system of voluntary guidelines and use the force of law to get the lead out of the hands and mouths of our children.

There's been an unprecedented number of toy recalls this year.

The goal is to move as quickly as possible--we'd love to get broad-based, bipartisan co-sponsors on it.
