I have some very serious concerns with the choices the Agency has made.

I'm concerned that this proposal has the potential to perhaps limit investment, hamper domestic production, and drive up costs for the consumers.

I continue to be very concerned about the Agency's Waters of the United States proposal.

We still need to find a workable solution for small remote incinerators that are the only option to deal with solid waste in some areas in Alaska.

The Agency is pumping out rule after rule based on questionable legal authority.

I would like your commitment this morning that you'll look closely at what the city of Fairbanks is doing.

Again, welcome to the subcommittee, and we look forward to your comments and the opportunity to engage in questions.

These are areas that I would like to explore with you, and working with the subcommittee, find a way to ensure that the actions of the Agency are consistent with what most people in the country believe the priorities should be.

I'm also concerned about the Agency's efforts to use the Superfund statute to require potentially duplicative financial assurance requirements on hardrock mining.

I am very concerned about the direction the budget takes here.

I am hoping that we can work with you to ensure that this type of cleanup can occur.

There is angst, there is anxiety, there is a view by many within my State that EPA is overstepping its appropriate role.

So you are giving me your assurance that the Agency is not planning on taking any actions to implement the rule until there is final action by the courts.

If we can keep these issues from expanding into bigger, more complicated problems, then we're all ahead.

We respectfully ask Congress to authorize the road and to do so without the involvement of the Department of Interior.

We will never quit until we are successful in our quest to achieve a safe, dependable and affordable transportation to our solution for our residents.

Thank you, Senator Murkowski, for being such an incredible champion on this issue and this cause.

It shattered the trust responsibility that the Federal Government is supposed to have to our nation's native people.

She decided that using just .07 percent of the refuge as a cherry stem to help save the lives of people who live there, while simultaneously expanding the refuge by tens of thousands of acres somehow was not worth it.

At a 300 to 1 exchange, it was not the best deal for the State of Alaska or for the people of King Cove.

The right answer is to do what virtually every other community in America would do, and that is to build a simple, lifesaving road.

We have, within this Committee, passed legislation, which was overwhelmingly approved by Congress.

The decision that Interior has made is cynical and callous.

This bill would direct the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to convey certain properties to the Tanana Tribal Council and the Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation.

These are important bills in these specific regions up in the interior and in Bristol Bay that will help increase access to much needed health care to Alaska Natives and non-Natives in both regions.
