I yield myself such time as I may consume. Mr. Speaker, last year, Jan Scruggs, president of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, came to my office and told me about an absurd fund-raising problem he had. He told me that in order to build a…
First, I would like to remind everybody it is the President's budget, but we write the budget, and I want everybody to remember that. And this cut is dramatic and I just want to know that I don't support it.
The Forest Service is a lousy agency right now. They are not doing anything but playing with themselves.
They have burned 9,600,000 acres of trees last year, and if you add that up, it's over 900 million barrels of oil.
We could have managed that timber, managed it so we didn't have those fires, and put the corn in the cow's bellies and people's bellies, instead of using ethanol from corn.

If we don't manage these trees, God will. And he will burn them to the ground, polluting the air.
Representative Don Young worked really hard to address the docks and fishing boats that ended up on the Alaskan coastline and affected the fisheries there.
Again I urge a ``yes'' vote. This amendment does solve some problems. And I'd like to address the issue of training. We've been very fortunate in Alaska. We've used these dollars in training for our Alaskan Natives very successfully. We…
I have an amendment at the desk. The CHAIR. The Clerk will designate the amendment. The text of the amendment is as follows: Page 69, line 21, strike ``not more than''. The CHAIR. Pursuant to House Resolution 113, the gentleman from Alaska…
At this time, I would like to yield 1\1/2\ minutes to my good friend from South Dakota (Mrs. Noem).
the whole Park Service has to be looked at by this Committee, Mr. Chairman, and the attitude. This is for people, not the Park Service.
I am a big supporter of this legislation, and hopefully the Committee will move it very quickly.
Mr. Chairman, it is ridiculous to force any organization to fundraise without the ability to recognize donors.
My bill allows for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation to recognize donors.
I really must note the support of Congressman Young of Alaska. I went to him to help solve this problem, and he said he was going to give it his best shot.
