I do appreciate your having this hearing, because we are an Arctic nation.

In the meantime, we don't have icebreakers, and all the rest of the countries do have icebreakers.

You are not going to get the $10 billion from this Congress to build a new icebreaker. That simple.

I actually believe that I can get a proposal to you, if you would be receptive, for a vessel to do the job for a lot less.

I still believe leasing is the option we should take place, not foreign vessels.

Do not cite anybody in my state again until we work this issue out because if you do not, we will do it legislatively because this is silly when you are using a dead bird's feather that has no value to anyone.

You are getting a black eye because you are not managing with people.

Your agent is a hot-dog. That is what he is. And interfered with Alaskan Natives and the raven has always been used as a sacred bird in their testimony and in their culture.

I acknowledge my good friend, John Dingell, for the work we have done together on a lot of fish and wildlife issues.

There is a value when they can be hunted; there is a value when they can in fact be managed; there is a value when you let a country manage its game.

Uncle Sam is going to say you have to prove it, you're guilty because we say you are. That is wrong, and this is not going to save the elephants.

For those in the audience who think you're saving elephants, you're going to be killing these elephants.

I have been sponsoring that bill and there have been others, and I am all for it.

We have a Fish and Game department that is, again, like smoking wacky weed.

You know my frustration. You have been in the audience with the Fish and Wildlife.

We are sticking our nose in somebody's business, very frankly.

This is not going to save the elephants.

I hope that some of my colleagues follow up, sir, because I am disgusted right now with our government and the Fish and Wildlife Department for putting up a 'fuscade'--I call it a 'fuscade'--for saying this is for conservation. It is not.

I suggest respectfully, Mr. Chairman, let us listen to those countries that are directly involved.

I think what has been discussed about the poacher, what has been discussed about the countries that allow poached ivory to enter their borders, those are the two enemies.

If you wanted to spend the money, I would suggest you spend it in Spirit Lake. I mean just an idea.

I did vote for the provisions for Violence Against Women. I want you to know that.

You should have the ability to make decisions based upon other than, I call, a policy of an EPA that doesn't understand that there is economics, there is a human life that is involved.

We have a Government today... that is taking away the right of individual's rights.

You are taking from my right to run my land. That is unconstitutional.
