I will be changing public procurement (to include) more social value weighting in public contracts, and it will particularly be focusing on more provision of those 45-day work placements.
I went into his care home on Sunday, and so for people listening now, because this may have gone out later, this was the Sunday after I'd become Prime Minister, so six days later.
I would come out and I'd turn my phone on, the old Nokia mobile phone and first text in block capitals from said person, this is what it would read, "Answer the f***ing question."
She took some persuading, to be honest, because I guess she didn't want to see me go through it all again and then end out on the wrong side, at the end of it.
Yeah, she was like, ‘What? Not again. They told you twice they don't want you. Why are you doing it again?’
It's why I find this podcast easy because she's quite blunt in telling me about my failures in past endeavours and she doesn't hold back and there's no soft landing there.
Sometimes in politics you have to say: ‘I’m going to break out of the consensus and start talking about those things in a different way’, and it’s what I’ve started to do.
It has to be radical, we’d have never created the NHS if we weren’t radical as a country at times.
In fact, social care has gone backwards and doesn’t that just say something how politics has really fallen?
I feel that my generation of politicians is guilty of a shameful dereliction of duty, political cowardice of the worst kind in saying that this issue is too difficult and we’re not going to touch it.
