Mr. President, to your health, and to the continued friendship of Brazil and the United States!

We have always counted Brazil as our friend, and I know that we can always count Brazil as our friend.

I sincerely hope that your stay in the United States will prove as enjoyable to you as my trip to your country was to me.

I am delighted to welcome you to the United States as the guest of the people of this Nation.

Now, Mr. President, on behalf of the Government and the people of the United States, I would like, while drinking a toast to you here, to present to you a special medal--solid gold--which has been cast in your honor.

Now, may I request the Speaker of the House of Representatives to say a word of welcome, on behalf of the House, to our distinguished guest, His Excellency the President of Brazil.

The exchange of visits between the heads of state of Brazil and the United States symbolizes the cordial relations that have always existed between our two countries.
