Today’s ruling sends a clear message: Black voters in Alabama cannot and will not be silenced.

I applaud the three-judge panel for upholding the rule of law and reaffirming that racial discrimination has no place in our redistricting process.

Know this: In my mind, it is not a matter of whether we win this case, only when.

The United States Supreme Court’s decision is plain common sense and enables our values to be best represented in Congress.

For years, we have fought for this outcome, and I am proud to celebrate this win for Alabamians.

This is a very fluid situation, and I will do my best to keep the people of Alabama apprised of our efforts. Know this — in my mind, it is not a matter of whether we win this case, only when.

I will continue to say: Alabama knows our state, our people, and our districts best.

After careful deliberation, we decided to run in the district that includes the majority of the counties I currently represent, and that provides the best opportunity to continue representing the people of Alabama.

Our goal, folks, our goal is a different kind of state government, one that truly belongs to the people of Alabama.

Change means rising wages, including raising the minimum wage. Change means better, more affordable health care. Change means expanding Medicaid to make healthcare work.

For too long, folks in Montgomery have worked only for themselves and the power, the powerful people who put them there. That’s who they work for, the well connected, the special interest. They don’t work for the people of Alabama.

I’m not running against him, I’m really not. I’m running against socialism and communism. I’m running against people that believe in killing the unborn.

Although I’m disappointed in the outcome, I’m proud of what this campaign stood for: strong Christian values and true conservative principles.

I am for making sure everybody is represented in this state.
