If they don’t play ball on the autos, who’s it going to hurt? It’s going to hurt their auto sector.
But I’ve been very clear. We want a fair deal for Ontario. We want a fair deal for Canadians. And we negotiate through strength, not weakness.
Every single tariff we have to match tariff-for-tariff. We can’t negotiate through weakness. They can’t put tariffs on our autos and we aren’t putting tariffs on theirs.
We’d be more than happy to bring booze back on the shelves, only if we have a deal that’s going to protect those sectors.
Approvals would only be granted to projects if they deliver local benefits, such as investments in community centres, parks, and roads.
I find it, I guess, hypocritical. That’s the word. We’re going to use all the data, we’re going to use everything, but we aren’t going to put it in our backyard.
But if any data centre thinks they’re coming into Ontario and getting a freebie: not happening.
It’s going to drive the world economy, there’s trillions of dollars around the world being invested.
