Mr. President, I wish to thank Senator Leahy and Senator Grassley and their staffs for moving this nomination. Because of their efforts, I have this opportunity to express my support for Judge Scott Skavdahl's nomination to serve on the bench of the U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming. Although Scott grew up in Harrison, NE, it wasn't long before he made his way to my home State and enrolled at the University of Wyoming. The university must have felt like a whole new world to him because he had just graduated from a high school that had less than 50 students. Still, while others might have been intimidated, Scott saw it as another of life's challenges to be faced and overcome, so he worked hard to complete the requirements for his undergraduate degree. In between his classes, Scott managed to find the time to pursue another interest of his, as he joined and played on the university's football team for 4 years. After graduation, Scott made a decision that was to start him on a path that would set the tone and the direction of his life when he applied to and was accepted by the University of Wyoming Law School. His classes were difficult and demanding, but Scott knew what he wanted to do with his life, and, as was true for him in so many things, he just wouldn't quit until he had accomplished what he set out to do.…
