since 1976, February has been celebrated as Black History Month, but the origins of this event date back to 1926, when Dr. Carter G. Woodson who was born in Huntington, WV, set aside a special period of time in February to recognize the heritage, achievements, and contributions of African-Americans. This occasion provides the opportunity for our country to celebrate the past and present contributions and accomplishments of African-Americans. As I reflect on these contributions and accomplishments, I am quickly drawn to my district and a gentleman who has demonstrated time and time again a tireless effort to be of exemplary service to all mankind. Ernest C. Moore is a husband, father, legislator, activist, humanitarian, role model, and friend to all who know him. For over 20 years Delegate Ernest C. Moore has championed the causes of justice and equity as a West Virginia State legislator representing McDowell County, 22d district.
