The Department takes seriously any practice, including financial products or services, that take unfair advantage of our servicemembers and their families.

I'm concerned about any allegations that our servicemembers are being unfairly treated, and we are reviewing this issue.

My view is that the United States should remain committed to a long-term relationship with Afghanistan.

If confirmed, I would review any plans for the final size and structure of the ANSF.

Ultimately, however, the decision to release detainees is with the Government of Afghanistan.

It is not a future I will seek, and it is not in Afghanistan's interests.

We are just trying to find that balance, and I am here anxiously to try to learn, so thank you.

West Virginia has been a heavy lifter for many, many years. We do coal. We do natural gas.

The Department of Energy has had $8 billion for research and development. It's been laying there for since 2, 9, I think.

That's all I'm asking for is a realistic, sympathetic look to what we can do and what we need to do for our country.

How are you going to find the technology if you don't partner up with the private sector to spend some of that $8 billion to try to move the ball forward?

But our people are very skeptical about having to work against our government rather than our government working for us.
