Joe Manchin is a United States Senator from West Virginia, serving since 2010. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously held the position of Governor of West Virginia from 2005 to 2010. I would like to go on record basically saying I have spoken to all the utilities, major utilities of the United States of America.
Last week my good friend, Senator Heidi Heitkamp from North Dakota, and I introduced a package of five bills to set a clear path forward for coal.
CCUS is not just a coal technology but one that will be used across the fossil energy sector.
Myself and Sheldon Whitehouse, that you would not suspect coming from two different spectrums. We both agree that we have a responsibility as humans for the climate.
The program would work to preserve low cost electricity, diversify our nation's energy supply by keeping coal competitive.
So I think most Americans would find this absolutely absurd. That is why Senator Manchin and I are working to change this policy.
One of the strongest arguments being made for privatizing or incorporating our air traffic control system, is it would allow it to be financially self-sustaining, free from the political forces that often drive Federal appropriations.
I believe sooner or later we are going to have to get a budget that works for this country, based on priorities and based on our values.
There have been reports, the Congressional Research Service highlighted some potential constitutional concerns of what we are talking about.
As I said before, the authority to tax was said by the First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to be the power to destroy, and we are very concerned about that.
I would just ask any of you here in the business arena, do you think it is legal and appropriate for Congress to relinquish our constitutional authority to levy taxes?

You think right now that we are dependent, strategically, on the things that it takes for the quality of life we have and defending our homeland, that we cannot take care of ourselves right now without outside rare earth minerals?
I want to know are we dependent on other countries or do other countries have control of our minerals which we are dependent on for our economy and the defense of our nation.
We have consistently found better ways to do things, better ways to find a balance between the economy and the environment.
Use Alaska as an example. We used Alaska for the Choice. Alaska is the basis for with Choice.
Prescription drug abuse is the biggest killer I have in my State of West Virginia.
I do not think we are going to build another hospital. I do not think we are going to build anything else.
