A member of the Democratic Party, she made history as the first openly LGBTQ+ person elected to the U.S. Senate. Baldwin previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from January 6, 1999, to January 3, 2013, representing Wisconsin's 2nd congressional district. Throughout her career, she has focused on issues such as healthcare, education, and economic opportunity for all Americans.
