“First, let me suggest to our colleagues there are several vehicles that would help simplify the IRS completely. The gentleman from Georgia (Mr. Linder) has a sales tax proposal that is very thoughtful and worth studying, and I urge some Members on both sides of the aisle if they would like to actually simplify the operation of the IRS, they look at that piece of legislation. There are other proposals such as the flat tax proposal that again bears some discovery and conversation. So as we continue to try and make the IRS as user friendly as we possibly can, I just commend my colleagues to look at that situation.”
