I am really pleased the budget will increase investments in the Pell Grant program, and it would reinstate the year-round Pell Grants and establish a $300 Pell bonus for students who are on track to complete their degree program.

I am pleased this budget proposes an increase of $15 million to help address the education needs of homeless students, bringing the total to $85 million.

I am also pleased the budget includes $190 million for the comprehensive literacy development program that I created in the Every Student Succeeds Act.

This issue really demands a coordinated and robust response from local, State, and, of course, the Federal Government.

How is the administration going to meet its legally binding commitments to the Tri-Cities community?

I remain concerned with the pattern I am seeing within the budget requests for Richland Operations (RL) at Hanford.

I really fear that this budget overall really foreshadows a decision by DOE to claim victory at RL and walk away from all the other cleanup RL is responsible for on the central plateau.

Several of the high-risk projects... are underfunded in the President's budget.

My constituents are really concerned about the impacts the change in administration will have on these negotiations, and I wanted to urge you today to push the administration to begin these formal negotiations with Canada.

It is really critical that we finish the job on all fronts.

I have found the President's budget to be shortsighted and inadequate when it comes to Hanford.

We need to have that ready, on time, and at capacity.

I am really pleased to see that you are requesting a significant increase for the Caregivers Program.
