Jim McDermott

Jim McDermott is a former U.S. Representative from Washington, serving from 1989 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, he represented Washington's 7th congressional district. During his tenure, McDermott was known for his advocacy on healthcare issues, social justice, and economic equality. He played a significant role in the passage of the Affordable Care Act and was a vocal critic of the Iraq War. McDermott also served on various committees, including the Ways and Means Committee, where he focused on tax policy and healthcare reform.

the 2010 budget which includes some limited funding for demonstration projects that seek to reduce long term foster care can assist in the development of reforms
the committee is joined by one of the Members of the Full Committee, Earl Pomeroy from North Dakota, who is one of those who was very often bending my ear on this issue.
All of us have a responsibility for foster children, and we need to squarely meet that obligation.
We strongly support the framework put forth in the bill: to establish a mandatory federal funding stream to support evidence based home visitation programs.
We applaud the leadership taken by Chairman Jim McDermott with Representatives Danny Davis and Todd Platts.
