I think it needs to be brought up to date.

The Administration's plan effectively reinstates the drilling moratoria that were lifted in 2008.

The Department is also pursuing new regulations on hydraulic fracturing on public lands.

Increasing taxes on energy production is misguided policy that, obviously, will just increase energy costs.

I also have serious concerns about the tax and fee increases on American energy production.

The bottom line is that we should not be increasing spending for land acquisition when the government cannot maintain the land that it already owns.

Increasing taxes on American families and businesses is not the solution.

We must set priorities and make tough choices on how to cut spending.

I would like to thank Chairman Gallegly and Ranking Member Lofgren, as well as Chairman Smith and Ranking Member Conyers, for holding this important hearing on 'Regional Perspectives of Agricultural Guestworker Programs.'

It is this generation's turn to recognize our growing water needs and take steps to meet it.

Agriculture is Central Washington's leading employer, and is heavily dependant on a reliable water supply.

Water users are justifiably concerned about this Administration's efforts to elevate non-structural and environmental elements over economic and safety benefits.

Regulations and associated litigation have hijacked these projects, to the point where their very purposes have been compromised.

Water supply certainty has a profound and direct impact on Central Washington, where the economy is heavily dependent on irrigated agriculture.
