I am really concerned about what I regard as the significant abuse of the bill.

I want to talk about the orphan drug bill in particular.

The policy that we've had... has been nation building in Afghanistan total, total and complete failure, pipe dream, wishful thinking.

The gun is cocked and loaded. We cannot go to war without Congress being involved in the debate and the President telling us what his policy is going to be.

This subcommittee will not rest until it has answers to these questions. It's what the American people and public health deserve.

We have got to establish a standard, and I just ask for some comments from you.

Why don't we just get rid of 25/3 and not pretend that it is even close to being adequate?

If we don't have a fund, it is going to be very difficult for us to actually deliver for rural America.

There is real opportunity here with the shared sense of purpose that both Republicans and Democrats have to try to get broadband out to rural America.

The president in fact was asking a foreign leader to do an investigation on a political opponent.

Now could have a mayor of a city withhold funding for the police department budget unless the police chief agreed to open up an information investigation on a political rival? Mr. Morrison?

Well, I want to thank all of the witnesses. Mr. Chairman, our colleagues, we have an opportunity finally to do something good for all of our communities, because they all need it.

Why waste this money that belongs to the public?

I think we all agree with that. But having the money from a public asset go to private gain, do you have any argument that that makes any sense?

We want to build out in rural America. That affects us, red State, blue State, red district, blue district.

Faster is better than slower, right?

I want to emphasize the urgency that we act.

I want to thank her for her leadership on this issue and her partnership on the subcommittee as ranking member.

The tourism industry, it really requires people who live in each one of our communities to be so invested in what it is they are offering.

But Brand USA, why wouldn't we want to do it when it is working?

How do we not know, before the President went in there, how many people would be in the line of fire?

But I wanted to ask some questions about what the consequences are of the way in which the President of the United States acted with literally no notice to our Kurdish allies.

To take an action where, in one fell swoop, with no consultation, no forewarning, we betray allies who have been with us, and we leave innocent people at the mercy of people who are going to get them, I don't get that.

There will be consequences, but when it is on us, because we make a voluntary decision about how we're going to execute, and the consequences are that innocent lives are lost, that is not subject to being washed away because it's quote…
