At a time when the very rich are getting richer while working families struggle, it is no great secret that millions of Americans no longer have faith in the political process or either major party.
Bernie Sanders
The Public Record
Bernie Sanders is an American politician and activist who has served as the junior United States senator from Vermont since 2007. A member of the Independent party, Sanders is known for his progressive policies and advocacy for social justice, healthcare reform, and income equality. He previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1991 to 2007, where he was the first independent elected to the House in 40 years. Throughout his career, Sanders has been a vocal critic of economic inequality and corporate influence in politics.
Because they have the guts to talk to the issues that are on the minds of ordinary Americans. It’s not more complicated than that.
Instead, we will strengthen and expand Social Security by requiring the wealthiest Americans to finally pay the same percentage of their income into Social Security as tens of millions of working people do today.
So the message here is that the days of a top-down party, I think, are finished.
I have already made, and my colleagues have made a major compromise, going from six trillion down to three and a half trillion.
I think that’s right. The transition is that, instead of having a top-down party, in which wealthy campaign contributors have enormous influence, we’re going to transform the party into a broad-based party of working people, of young…
Now is the time to stand up to powerful special interests. Now is the time to start representing working families.
The Democratic Caucus must make it abundantly clear that under no circumstances will we support legislation that cuts Social Security benefits, raises the retirement age, reduces Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs), or privatizes this…
Maybe the Democratic establishment should begin to understand they are way, way, out of touch with where the American people are.
You know, ‘the donor class said you or you should be the candidate for the Senate,’ that’s what the ‘donor class’ says.
As the former Chair and a senior member of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I am very pleased to announce these two new, state-of-the-art clinics for veterans to get their primary healthcare.
When it became clear the VA would combine the Keene and Brattleboro clinics into one, larger facility, I worked with them to ensure a location was selected that was convenient to veterans in both states.
I am also delighted that the new South Burlington clinic will provide desperately needed dental care services, a first for a VA facility in Vermont.
The Burlington clinic — the state’s busiest — will be replaced by a facility that is twice as large, located at the Technology Park in South Burlington.
If the question is, who is the stronger candidate against Rogers, I think it is el Sayed.
Fetterman does his thing, I think on Israel and many other issues, is way out of touch with the people of America.
Well, my response to Fetterman is last time I saw it, he was reflecting the views of about 19% of the Democrats in the state of Pennsylvania, I think probably lower than any other member of the Democratic Senate.
As a result of those accusations, I and virtually all of his supporters requested that he withdraw from the race, and he did.
Platner ran a very strong campaign, and in fact, many of the issues that he’s raised are resonating all over this country.
The people of this country right now are sick and tired of establishment politics and establishment policies. They want change and I and other progressives are going to do everything that we can to bring about those changes.
I think what the overwhelming majority of the American people want us to do is finally stand up for them, not just the drug companies and the health care industry and the fossil fuel industry.
Sen. Bernie Sanders’s call for nationalizing the top AI labs rests partly on that concern.
The Pentagon has been plagued by a massive amount of waste, fraud and financial mismanagement for decades.
The issue at hand is not complicated. Will we have people in the Trump administration who have the guts to stand up to people who are anti-science and into conspiracy theories?
